Watchdog service | agent running only if user is logged

Hi all!

We observe in our agents the Cymulate Watchdog process (configured on install to run every 5 minutes) showing a lot of execution errors, and it may be impacting mainly on Windows Servers, where agent only runs if some user is logged into. The event viewer error says that a config file, "CymulateWatchDog.deps.json" is missing, and we couldn't find any memption about it on forum or help center. Despite Windows Server was mentioned in this example, this behavior (Watchdog unsucessfull) appears to occur with unix (Linux/macOS) systems too.

About this case:
- How we could repair this watchdog behavior? Is there some example of "CymulateWatchDog.deps.json" settings?
- Repairing watchdog, it will be effective with agent up without a user stay logged onto server ?

Hey Uiliam,

That's a good question that you raise here.

This error is normal behavior of the watchdog process, you should be concerned about it.

It will keep showing it in the event viewer even if you're logged on, or on a workstation machine.

Cheers

Hello David, thank you for reply

If this behavior is normal, and, once watchdog process can't run, do you know if this behavior is related to agent stay up only when an user is logged on hosts ?

Hey Uiliam,

No, it isn't related to that.

However, you may be happy to hear that soon Cymulate plans to release an agent that will run as a service without a requirement of having a logged on user.

Hi David,

Well, that is great news! Do you any have information about the dates of this release?

Eventually we have faced some problems with agents that become offline and we have to interact with the machines to start the agent.
